The Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia hosted the fifth Steering Committee and fifth Interregional Workshop of ECOWASTE4FOOD in Thessaloniki. The project is included in and co-funded by Interreg Europe. The meetings took place at the Mediterranean Palace Hotel on 29 and 30 November 2018.
The aim of the fifth Steering Committee, held on 29 November, was to review activities implemented during the first phase of ECOWASTE4FOOD, concerning exchange of experience and planning food waste reduction actions, and to discuss future planning and the modifications required to successfully complete the first phase and achieve the project’s objectives for the second phase, concerning implementation of the project partners’ Action Plans. The fifth Steering Committee concluded with all project partners participating. The Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia presented activities implemented in Western Macedonia during the previous six months and plans for the coming period. Full alignment with the project’s initial planning was confirmed, and decisions were taken on completing first-phase actions and launching the second phase.
The fifth Interregional Workshop took place on 29 and 30 November 2018 and specifically aimed to assess the project partners’ Action Plans. It involved representatives of all partners, regional operational planning experts and stakeholder representatives. Participants conducted peer reviews of the Action Plans within working groups established during the workshop. Fund staff, its technical consultant and Regional Operational Programme expert, a representative of the Managing Authority of the Western Macedonia Regional Operational Programme 2014–2020, and the Fund’s stakeholders jointly participated in working groups and assessed the other ECOWASTE4FOOD regions’ Action Plans. The Fund’s Action Plan was assessed as the most complete and consistent with programme requirements. It was therefore considered final, and the other partners used it as a model for specifying the changes needed to their own plans.
The fifth Interregional Workshop concluded with discussions on promoting Action Plans through events in all project regions and scheduling those events.
