1Working Meeting in the framework of the project: GREENSMARTMED

The National Research Center & of Technological Development (EKETA) and the Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia, project partners  «GREENSMARTMED – Green and Resilient European Excellence Network for Smart MED SMEs», whose objective is the promotion of the “green industry”, in the context of the implementation of its actions, held on 30 October 2024, at ZEP Kozani, a Working Meeting on the subject: “Strategic Preparation for the project GREENSMARTMED: Strengthening the Regional Ecosystem”.

The aim of the meeting was to inform executives of the Western Macedonia region about the content of the project GREENSMARTMED in order to achieve the establishment of regional target groups, in the sectors of interest of the project, which are agri-food, textiles, plastics, machinery, mobility and batteries, as well as the creation of synergies with related projects and initiatives.

The meeting highlighted the need to establish regional target groups, which will participate in the mapping of the ecosystem of the Western Macedonia Region and the identification of key issues related to the development of expertise and innovation by local businesses.

At the same time, for a better understanding of the role of the actors in the working groups, the self-assessment tool to be used in local businesses was presented, which determines the readiness of the business in six (6) key areas of innovation development (the financing of an idea, its copyright, the team available to support it, the available know-how, the business model and the customers – users it is addressed to).

The aim, through the collection of data, to identify possible obstacles and weaknesses presented by the small and medium enterprises of the region, at an organizational and financial level, but also to record possible financing tools, which will be able to cover any needs that have been recorded.

The meeting was attended by 30 people representing the following organizations: Waste Management Company of Western Macedonia (DIADYMA S.A.), Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia (CluBe), Cluster of Cheesemakers of Western Macedonia, Agri-Food Partnership of the Region of Western Macedonia, Geotechnical Chamber of Greece – Western Macedonia Branch, Institute of Just Transition of Greece, Municipality of Kozani, Structure of Smart Specialization of the Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia (RIS/RDF DM Structure), Civil Protection Institute of the University of Western Macedonia, Special Management Service of the “Western Macedonia” Program.
