4th LIVING LAB Workshop Meeting 12 May 2026 Policy Strategies and Policy makers engagement in the Region of Western Macedonia – Capitalization Policy review

The Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia, in collaboration with the National Center for Research and Technological Development (EKETA), organized on Tuesday 12 May, the 4 Living Lab meeting on the topic: “Policy Strategies and Policy makers engagement in the Region of Western Macedonia – Capitalization Policy Review”, in the framework of the implementation of the European project GREENSMARTMED of the Program Interreg Euro-MED. The meeting took place at the facilities of the Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia in Kozani.

The project GREENSMARTMED seeks to create a European network of cooperation between entities from Greece, Italy, Spain, France and Bulgaria, with the aim of promoting innovative practices for green and resilient production chains, in accordance with the principles of the RIS3 strategy and sustainable development.

The aim of the meeting was to develop a meaningful dialogue between representatives of the public administration, the academic community, the chambers and civil society bodies of the Region of Western Macedonia, regarding the policy strategies for sustainable development and the green transition. Particular emphasis was placed on the formulation of policy proposals that strengthen green infrastructure, the circular economy, the energy transition and the resilience of regional production chains.

During the workshop, the results of the project’s actions were presented GREENSMARTMED as well as the policy guidelines that emerged through the cooperation of the project partners at the European level. In addition, the possibilities of further exploitation of the results of the project and the prospects of strengthening innovation in the fields of agri-food, green industry and sustainable entrepreneurship were discussed.

4th Living Lab meeting confirmed the importance of interregional cooperation and the active participation of local bodies in the formulation of policies that will contribute to the sustainable and just development transition of Western Macedonia.
