Purpose of the meeting
The Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia and the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas are organising the 5th Living Lab Workshop Meeting on “Policy recommendations, innovative products and connection with regional RIS” in the Region of Western Macedonia, with organisations from the region. The meeting aims to further promote sustainable development and the transition to a low-carbon economy through the use of tools. To ensure meaningful participation by private-sector representatives from Western Macedonia, the meeting will then discuss how the policy-making tools developed through the project could be applied.

Who the meeting is for and reasons to participate
The meeting aims to develop an active dialogue at local and regional level with private-sector representatives, members of organisations and chambers of commerce, the academic community, business advisers, representatives of businesses and clusters in wine and cheese production, and civil-society organisations active in Western Macedonia. It also seeks to develop joint action between services and organisations in the Region of Western Macedonia to strengthen synergies and disseminate the results of European projects. For the 5th Living Lab Workshop Meeting in particular, GREENSMARTMED policy implementation topics may focus on promoting sustainable development and the transition to a low-carbon economy, with private businesses as a key driver. Applying policy tools in the private sector may include strengthening policies that facilitate green infrastructure, improving financial incentives for green investment, and enhancing education and training on sustainability and the circular economy. Specific areas of focus include climate action, the energy transition, environmental protection, the circular economy and green industry.
