As part of the cross-border EPICAH programme, in which the Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia participates as the Greek partner, a study visit examining good practices in Kastoria’s old town took place on Tuesday, 5 June, with representatives from eight European countries.
The programme included a study visit and walking tour of Kastoria in cooperation with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Kastoria. At the start, participants toured the Byzantine Museum of Kastoria with the Head of the Ephorate, Ms Andromachi Skreka.
Following the Byzantine Museum tour, participants walked through the Doltso neighbourhood in Kastoria’s old town, where they viewed Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches with distinctive architecture and iconography.
The study visit concluded with a visit to the Tsiatsiapa Mansion. Project partner representatives toured the recently renovated mansion and learned about its history.
