At collaboration BERRY+, which is an Innovative Industrial Modernization Partnership (S3 Industrial Modernization Partnership) between 5 regions of the EU, on behalf of the Region of Western Macedonia, the Regional Development Fund with the RIS Support Structure of Western Macedonia and the Development of Western Macedonia SA participate – ANKO.
The aim of the BERRY+ collaboration is to create an inter-regional cluster between the participating partner regions, giving emphasis on the production of products using renewable natural resources and their side-flows based on excellence, to produce high added value products and ensure access to markets through value chain partnerships.
Value chain partnerships were chosen since, as business and regional development tools, they can be the most effective to support innovation-based development at all levels of governance (regional, national, European Union and global).
Starting point of BERRY+ is the circular economy as a driver for growth, investment and exports. During the initial phase of the BERRY+ collaboration, the prioritized value chains – from raw materials to finished products – relate to functional foods, vegetable-based proteins, regenerative cosmetics and forest industry side streams, emphasizing those that substitute products based on non-renewable raw materials, while synergies between these value chains will be examined.
